Liam picked her up in his arms and his wings began to Flap. He went higher than expected. He did this so that no one would notice that he was a human eagle. No one could see them clearly due to his fast movement and his height. He was too far. He reached his grandpa's place in no time. His wings disappeared immediately he landed on the terrace. His eyes returned to normal too. "Grandpa!" Shouted Liam "Liam, you came. I was waiting for your arrival. What happened to the princess?" Asked the grandpa receiving Shani from his arms. "Princess? Well she fainted when we were almost into the kingdom. She said she could hear people crying out for her help" said Liam. "She'll be fine. She just hasn't gotten used to the negative energies of this land. This is the land of her enemies and her people are suffering" said the grandpa. "What do you mean by that?" Asked Liam who was confused. "Pass me the tobacco first" said the grandpa and liam did as told. His grandpa took alittle of it and applied it on Shani's nose. She dint last long, she sneezed until she woke up. "Thank God you are awake my princess" said Liam's grandpa "Why do you keep calling her princess?" Asked Liam "Because she is the awaited princess Liam" said grandpa Stephen "Grandpa you are confusing me" said Liam "Just sit down and i'll tell you everything. Sit next to her" said grandpa Stephen pointing on the bed where they put Shani who was now awake. "Shani are you okay?" Asked Liam "Yeah am fine but where are we?" Asked Shani "We are at my grandpa's place. You fainted and i brought you here" said Liam "Its an honour to meet you my princess" said grandpa Stephen bowing to her and this made both Liam and Shani so surprised. "Am not a princess!" Said Shani boldly "You are a princess and you cant deny it. You cant run away from your destiny. This is your kingdom and it awaits you" said grandpa Stephen "What do you mean by that grandpa?" Asked Liam more confused "She is the snake princess. Daughter of queen Annabel and King Aaron the brave" said grandpa Stephen "What!" Said Liam shocked and even stood up so quickly and moved away from Shani. "Dont be scared Liam. There is a reason why the two of you met and became friends. The almighty is wise. I know you are an eagle and she is a snake but..." said grandpa Stephen but was cut short. "He is an eagle? My mom said they are a danger to my life" said Shani looking straight at Liam "Yes they are but Liam is not. Am also an eagle but my wife was a snake. We lived happily until Queen Erica brought out another war. That was when your dad got killed and so was my wife. The eagles and snakes have never been friends. They always fight. The eagles want the powerful pearl of the snakes which can bring the whole world to their control. The Almighty gave it to the snakes because they are not greedy and can protect it. The pearl has been past from generation to generation and this time it belongs to. Your mother struggled to protect it from Liam's mother." Explained grandpa Stephen "Am i really a snake?" Asked Shani almost in tears "Not just any snake my dear. You are the favoured one. The snake princess" said grandpa Stephen "You spoke about my dad's death. How about my mom? My mom Marieta said she gave birth to me in a forest" said Shani now in tears. "Yes its true. When she gave birth to you, you were sickly and could die any moment. She also had to protect the pearl which could also save life. She had no time to ask it for healing therefore she had to hide it in your body. The pearl is safe in your forehead and only you can remove it. It gave you life since then and has been protecting you. Marieta was then given the duty to raise you and protect you. She and her husband are supposed to train you when you receive your tail and shifting powers which i believe you received already. Marieta and Donald ran away with you to another kingdom. Your mother couldnt go on as she was in a bad state and the eagles reached to her. People say she is dead but no one found her body so there is a possibility she is alive" said grandpa Stephen and Shani was in tears and pain. "If the eagles and snakes are enemies, why are Shani and I friends? Why do we meet in our every dreams? Why grandpa?" Asked Stephen. "Because you are her protector" said grandpa Stephen "Protector? But you prophesied that am the one to kill the snake princess" said Liam "Yes i did. That was only to protect you from your family. They'd kill you if they found out that you are her protector. Your life is now in danger because you dint receive your wings on the eclipse night. But that doesn't mean you are powerless. You have wings and even more extra powers but they are active when you are around Shani. And thats to protect her. Look at your left arm, that tatoo tells everything. You are her protector and you are supposed to be with her always. Thanks to her you'll always have your wings with you" explained grandpa Stephen and Liam sat down in disbelief. "But he is an eagle, how can he be my protector? As you say am the snake princess, then why do i need protection when i can protect myself?" Asked Shani "The Almighty is wise. You are the first snake princess to have a protector and he chose an eagle. This means that the Almighty wants the eagles and snakes to be one. He wants this war to end and thats why he made the two of you friends. Please dont let go of your friendship. Shani i know your parents suffered because of Liam's parents but i assure you Liam is different. Liam dont ever leave Shani alone. Shani i know you want to revenge but think carefully before you do anything " said grandpa Stephen "Did all the other snakes die?" Asked Shani "Some fled to other places while others died. A few remained in this kingdom but have been hiding ever since. Please Shani, dont leave my grandson alone. He will die if..." Explained grandpa Stephen but just then they all heard footsteps from the terrace. "Are you expecting anyone?" Asked Liam "You have to hide. That must be your mom and your siblings looking for you at my place" said grandpa Stephen and hid them under his bed. He then took a powder and sprinkled it around the bed then went back to his table. He pretended to be writing something when queen Erica and her kids arrived. King Nathan was not with them. "Where is he?" Asked queen Erica "Who are you talking about my lady?" Asked grandpa Stephen "Dont pretend grandpa. Where is Liam?" Asked Bridgit. "How am i supposed to know that? He should be with you" said grandpa Stephen sounding very serious. "You better bring him out grandpa" said Jibril "Why would i hide the chosen one?" Said grandpa Stephen "Chosen one my foot! He never received his wings. I even wonder if he is my son. He should just die and be it you are hiding him, you'll regret ever doing it. Lets go kids" said queen Erica and turned to leave with her two kids. "Mom! Lets search his house first. I can feel his perfume all over the place" said Jibril "Search the place kids" said queen Erica and sat down on grandpa Stephen's chair. "You are doomed!" Said Bridgit and they began scattering the place. "Check in his room" said queen Erica and the kids ran to their grandpa's room. They checked his bathroom and in his wardrobe but couldnt find anyone. "Under the bed" said Bridgit and they all turned towards the bed. Shani held Liam's hand so tightly and sweat dripped down her face. Liam looked at her but she wasnt looking at him. She was reciting a short prayer. Liam saw how worried she was and held her hand tightly too. Jibril and Bridgit were moving closer to the bed. They both smiled before bending over to the bedroom
