Said Marieta and Shani left dissapointed. "Momy you are not fair at all" said Shani and ran to her room. She fell on her bed and cried. Marieta came to her window and peeped. Tears filled her eyes too. "I know i cant keep you away from your people forever but what do i do? I only want to protect you from danger" said Marieta to herself. Just then her husband Donald came to her and pulled her to a corner. "I know you are trying to protect her but we have to reveal her identity to her before its too late. You have to train her to be what she is supposed to be. Marieta be strong. I'll always support you" said Donald "I know Donald but what about the danger she'll face? You know she is stubborn right?" Asked Marieta "Yes i do know but we'll tell her not to reveal her identity when she is out of the house. That way, she can be safe from the eagles. Am sure queen Erica is looking fot her" said Donald and hugged Marieta tightly. "When do we tell her?" Asked Marieta "The eclipse is nearing my dear. We have to tell her tonight after supper. That's what queen Annabel wanted right? Then lets fulfil her wish" said Donald and his wife nodded. On the other hand, deep in the Masaki kingdom, queen Erica and king Nathan called out for their sons who were busy in their chambers. Kingdom Masaki was very beautiful but with less people. The people there lived in fear as they would lose four people every month. No one knew where they would disappear to and the royals would just give food and money to deceased families. No one knew the royal family are the eagles. No one believed they existed in the 21st century and thats what the eagles wanted. No one also knew that the royals kidnapped the four people every month and made them their meal. "Mom you summoned us" said the eldest son Jibril. "Yes my children. Its important thats why i called for you" said queen Erica "Leave us!" Said king Nathan to the palace guards and they left immediately. "So kids you all know that the eclipse is almost and you are all waiting to know who the chosen one is" started queen Erica "Yeah so tell us mom. Is it me?" Asked the second born Bridgit. She was a proud one and very heartless. "I wish you were but you aren't baby" said queen Erica "Then its definately me" said Jibril so full of himself "Its not you son" said king Nathan and the kids were all surprised. The last born, Liam, was even more shocked. "No way dad. How can liam be the chosen one? He doesnt even eat human flesh like us. He is scared of heights and only eats animal flesh. He has no wings yet mom. How can he be the one to hunt down and kill the snake princess? How can he be king?" Asked Jibril so hurt "Jibril is right mom. How can this scaredy cat head us? He is younger than us. He is just 22" said Bridgit so angry "Relax kids. Your grandpa the great seer never lies. He chose Liam for this mission because he is fit for it. During the eclipse, Liam will receive his wings and he will no longer be scared of heights. Liam is a good hunter than all of you. He can easily attract animals to his trap therefore he can easily get the snake princess to his trap. We can easily kill her by then" explained king Nathan "But dad i..." said Liam but his mom cut in. "No buts Liam. Its time for you to grow up and stop these hunting games of yours. Make me proud and bring that princess for me to eat. Your dad will train you on how to use your wings when you get them. Make sure you dont go for hunting on the eclipse night" said queen Erica and departed from them followed by her husband after patting Liam's shoulder. "I'll always hate you for this!" He scratched his head for a while then went to his room feeling all stressed up. Shani was so angry at how her mother will not let her go out anymore. She began scattering things all over the room. She hit her hand hard on the wall and hurt herself very badly. She sat down and looked at her wound oozing blood. It was painful and she regretted doing so. Suddenly all the blood dried out and the wound healed so fast as if by magic. Shani was surprised and scared. She stood up quickly and looked at the place again. It appeared clean as if nothing had happened. "Mooom!" She shouted and ran out of the room. "Shani whats wrong?" Asked Marieta who ran up to her. "Mom it healed. Its clean" said shani confused. "What healed? What cleaned?" Asked Donald who just arrived "Dad i... i hit the wall hard and i had a wound right here" said Shani pointing at the where she had a wound. "But you dont have any wound dear" said Donald "Dad i had a wound. It healed and cleaned itself. I dont know how it happened. Am confused. How did it happen?" Asked Shani so confused. Donald and Marieta looked at each other and then at Shani. "Can we talk about this after supper?" Said Donald. Marieta ran out of there in tears. "But dad i..." said Shani but Donald ran after his wife. Shani got even more confused. She wondered what they were hiding from her. "Maybe my dream friend can tell me" said Shani and ran back to her room. She lay on the bed and fell asleep. After about 5 minutes, she began dreaming. In the dream came a very handsome young man dressed in a black t-shirt and black trouser. Thats how he always dressed whenever they met. Shani was in a white crop top and a white trouser. Thats how they appeared in the dream and it was not the first time they met in the dream. They were in a garden which was rich in green vegetation. "Hi Shani" said the young man in the dream "What took you so long Liam?" Asked Shani "I was taking care of something sorry" he said "Forget about it. I dont know whats happening to me Liam" said Shani so low "Hey whats wrong my friend" asked Liam "I had a wound earlier but it healed completely. Its spotless. I dont know how it happened" explained Shani but Liam laughed. "Wait are you serious?" He asked "Do i seem to joke? Am serious and you are laughing. I told my parents about it but they said they'd tell me after supper. I dont know what they are hiding from me" said Shani "Well i dont know but this is serious. You should just go back and listen to them. Ask them everything you want coz they only have the answers" said Liam "Maybe you are right. Wait let me show you" said Shani and grabbed a stone in the garden. She pierced it on the same spot as earlier and it healed after some seconds. "Woah! Thats incredible. If i had such powers, i would be a super hero. I would be glad to be your personal hero and save you from any danger" said Liam smiling "You are crazy Liam. Why dont you try it? Maybe you got some magic too" said Shani and laughed but Liam took the stone and cut himself. "Liam what the he..." shouted Shani but Liam's wound healed up so quickly. "OMG! Am finally your personal hero Shani" said Liam so happy "I feel like someone is calling me. Goodbye Liam" said Shani and disappeared from the dream. She was finally awake in the real world. Marieta was waking her up. "Mom" said Shani "I wont hide anything from you anymore. I'll tell you everything you need to know; your real identity. The snakes wanted to save their pearl which would be dangerous for the earth if the eagles got it. Most of the snakes died trying to save the pearl which was in the hands of their pregnant queen; queen Annabel. The remaining snakes ran for their lives out of fear when they realised how fast they were being killed. Their queen couldnt fight anymore due to her pregnancy which was in her late stage. The queen had to run away to save her child after her dear husband died brutally in the hands of the eagles. Queen Annabel found herself in the forest where she met Donald and I still escaping the war. I used to train the newly shifted snakes when they got their tails and learnt to shift their shapes. I used to help them learn how to control their powers and use them wisely. That day, i helped our queen to deliver her daughter but she was sickly. She wasnt healthy. She was going to die any moment, therefore queen mother who was protecting the snake pearl used it to save her daughter's life. The pearl had power to destroy and give life. Queen Annabel hid the pearl in her daughter's forehead and it gave her life. But then the eagles had reached the forest. They wanted the pearl and it was with the princess. Queen Annabel..." explained Marieta but couldn't finish as Shani stopped her. "Wait mom. Why are you telling me all this? Why about the snakes and eagles who no longer exist? How does it concern me? Shani ran so fast but dint know where she was heading to. She kept running while thinking of herself being a snake. She always thought it was a fairy tale. She dint know she was the snake princess. It was getting dark but she dint stop. She reached the forest which was the border to kingdom Masaki, kingdom pine where she came from and kingdom Olive.She stopped when she noticed her skin changing. She was forming scales slowly by slowly. Shani got scared of herself. Her hands and legs had white scales all over. Her eyes changed and took out a serpent's form. They were so sharp and clear. Her hair opened up freely and fell on her shoulders. Her clothes changed and turned as the ones in her dreams. The scales disappeared and she found herself holding a golden fork. There was also a crown on her head which matched perfectly. A very bright pearl appeared on her forehead. She dint know what she was doing at that time. It was the eclipse moment. Her head twisted and faced upward facing towards the moon which was dark. When the bright pearl's light reflected on the moon, Shani turned into a full length white serpent. She was very large in size and length. She then slithered deep into the large forest. A shooting star then passed around the moon. Donald and Marieta had already gone back home. They were shedding and getting a younger skin. When they saw the shooting star at the backyard, they all exclaimed. "She has finally become the princess we were waiting for. Am sure the other snakes out there have seen it and now have hope that their princess is alive. I just wish she comes back home for training" said Marieta in tears of joy. "I hope so too. Finally we look young again. We'll wait for another eclipse to shed again" said Donald and hugged his wife. On the other hand queen Erica and king Nathan were so furious. "How is this possible? How come you dint receive your wings? Why dint you transform? You cant be my son!" Said Queen Erica so furious "Mom i...i" said Liam not knowing what to say "I knew this would happen mom. He is useless to us" said Jibril "Yes mom. He should die. He cant help us in any way. What do you think dad?" Asked Bridgit. Nathan loved Liam even though he was alittle different from the rest. He was kind hearted. "Why do you even ask dad? He is his favourite child after all" said Jibril "I treat all my sons fairly. If you think he is useless, then do as you please" said King Nathan and left for his chamber. "Mom, what do we do to him?" Asked Jibril "My dogs are hungry. Make him their supper" said Queen Erica "Mom am your son. Have mercy and spare my life" begged Liam kneeling down but his mother just went away. He knew how dangerous and ruthless his siblings were. "Jibril, Bridgit am your brother. Dont feed me to those dogs please" begged Liam who thought he was powerless and useless. "Oh just die" said Bridgit and just as they were about to attack him with their claws, darkness filled the whole area and they could not see him. The darkness lasted for some seconds and when it was gone, they couldn't find Liam. "Where is he?" Asked Jibril angrily "I also dont know. Mom!" Shouted Bridgit running back into the palace. Queen Erica had gone to the secret dungeon to meet an old prisoner. "Oh helloo queen Annabel. I see you are done shedding off. Looking young as old times" said queen Erica as she arrived at the dungeon. "Well yes and am happy as never before. Am a snake after all. Did you also loose your little feathers?" Asked queen Annabel mockingly making queen Erica angry. "Am not here to chit chat with you. Tell me, where is that daughter of yours" asked queen Erica "Oh my princess? She is out there enjoying her new identity. She is finally my fierce princess. I wonder what powers she received from the Almighty. But i know she means alot of danger to you right now. You'll never find the pearl with her alive or dead. I'll adivise you, better prepare yourselves very well. Your death is coming" said queen Annabel proudly "I was able to make you my prisoner. That little brat won't cost me a thing" said queen Erica "Let me make a clarification. You attacked when i was pregnant and helpless. Why dont you release me now and see who wins" said queen Annabel. Queen Erica got so angry and left the dungeon which was guarded by mysterious powers. When she got back to her chamber, Jibril and Bridgit went to her. "Mom he escaped" said bridgit "Who escaped?" Asked queen Erica "Liam. Darkness covered our eyes and when it was gone we couldn't find him" said Jibril "How is this possible! You have to find him and kill him. He knows alot about us" said Queen Erica. "We'lm search in the morning. Its already late" said Bridgit and they left. Queen Erica was stressed up like never before. She went to her fridge and grabbed a piece of human meat and ate. Liam on the other hand appeared in the border forest. His grandfather the seer had saved him. He had power to appear as darkness and disappear in thin air. "Grandpa thank you" said Liam and hugged his grandfather. "Its okay my boy. Its not your destiny to die as yet. You have to complete your mission. Now listen to me very carefully. Shani is helpless in this forest. Go and look for her and bring her to me at any cost. You both need to know something before its too late" said the grandpa. "How do you know about Shani? She is my dream friend" said Liam "Just get going. Bring her to me and you'll know everything. Am seer remember that" said the grandpa "But what if they find me and kill me?" Asked Liam "Nothing can harm you. Go" said the grandpa and disappeared in thin air. "I always thought Shani is just a dream but dint know its a come true. Finally i'll meet you Shani" said Liam and smiled broadly forgetting that his own life was at stake. He sat down a neem tree to rest and just then he heard someone cry. It was a female voice. "Shani!" He whispered and started looking for her in every direction but couldn't find her. He thought he was just imagining and sat down again but he heard someone cry again. He sat quietly and listened carefully to where the voice came from. His heart was in pain when he heard the cry even more and he dint know why. He could hear that it came from up the neem tree. He turned and saw Shani sitting on a branch in tears. She was in the white clothes he was used to in the dreams. The difference was that she had a crown and her hair was not in a ponytail. "Shani! Its me Liam" he said "Go away! I dont want to dream of you. I want to be alone" said Shani in tears "Shani we are not dreaming. This is reality. Its me Liam" said Liam and this time shani looked down and saw liam though he was not in black like in the dream. "Liam is it really you?" Asked Shani abit excited "Its me my friend" said Liam and Shani jumped down. Liam held her when she landed and suddenly they felt attached. They stood frozen for a moment and dint realise when Liam's clothes changed to black. "Hey your clothes changed" said Shani "Woah! How is this possible? But wait why are you crying alone in this forest?" Asked Liam but Shani just looked away. The moon it clear for them to see in the forest. Shani's eyes were now back to normal. "Shani am your friend. You can confide in me" said Liam holding her hands "Liam am fine i just argued with my mom and i ran away from home. So why are you here?" Asked Shani wiping a slight tear. She dint know she had a crown until she touched it. "Dint you know you had a crown?" Asked Liam "This was not how i came into the forest. I was in a black trouser and pink top. I dint have a crown on" said Shani standing up looking more confused. "I bet you really need to see my grandpa. Lets go" said Liam and began leading the way. "Is it far from here?" Asked Shani "Well...yeah. If i had gotten my wings tonight, i'd carry you there. Just few minutes" said Liam unknowingly revealing half his secret. "Your wings? Were you waiting to receive wings?" Asked Shani who stopped and looked at him in disbelief. "You...you got me all wrong. I was just wishing i had wings to carry you" lied Liam "Oh, i thought you really had wings. Its best we begin our journey now if its so far" said Shani and Liam sighed a relief. "Yeah lets go" said Liam. The two walked past the forest silently not knowing what to say to each other. They were almost out of the forest when Shani felt sudden change in her body. She felt more energy around her and almost fainted but Liam caught her. It was almost dawn. "Shani are you okay?" Asked Liam worried. "Someone is calling to me. She is in pain. Ouch! People are crying. They are calling out to me. Ouch!" Said Shani holding her ears in pain and passed out. "Shani...shani...shani wake up" said Liam so worried. He stood up and made a move to look for water but stopped suddenly. Some kind of power held him rooted at one point. His eyes turned dark and sharp as those of an eagle. He felt stronger than ever. His nails grew dark, longer and sharp. His backbone then began to hurt. It was too painful for him and he screamed. The pain increased making him fall on his knees. He removed his shirt and his back was clear. He had a fresh wound on his back which was enlarging and he screamed more. His left hand then felt like it was burning and a tatoo drew itself before his shoulder. The tatoo was an eagle spreading its wings and above it was a serpent's head. Then in between the wounds on his backbone, wings began to grow. The wings had black feathers as they grew and it was even more painful for Liam. He screamed his heart out. When the wings had fully developed, they flapped themselves and made Liam rise from the ground. He couldnt feel the pain anymore. At the feathery end of the wings, the feathers were white. This was different from all other eagles. All eagles had black feathers and some could add up alittle brownish but none had white feathers. His wings looked amazingly beautiful as they flapped. His long nails reduced to his normal size and he landed on the ground making his wings to lay gently on his back. His eyes were still dark and sharp. He turned to where Shani lay unconscious. He opened his mouth and made an angry eagle cry exposing his teeth which had two sharp canines longer than the rest. Birds who were still in their nests came out running feeling very scared. Liam looked very fierce and angry as he looked at Shani as he moved closer
